Active Mum Maternity Range Review

16/02/2017 6:48 PM

Angela and Caroline are both Mothers who attend Body Smart in Brisbane for reformer Pilates, and they recently road tested our Active Mum Maternity Range including the Mind the Bump Maternity TankMamma Mia Maternity Bra and the Hold Me Maternity Tight throughout their pregnancy and beyond. We caught up with Angela and Caroline to see if our specialised Maternity range stood up to the test and how Maternity wear can affect your workout.

What fitness related activities or exercises did you do before you were pregnant?

Walking and occasional Pilates

What fitness related activities or exercises did you do while you have been pregnant?

I have a toddler to chase after but still make time for walking and Pilates when I can.

Do the clothes stay in place and are they supportive throughout all of your workouts? Do they suit the activities you do?

The clothes are excellent and are very supportive, unlike a lot of other activewear or Maternity wear for exercise. They give great support which is perfect during pregnancy as you feel (and literally are) carrying a lot more weight around! They suit the activities I do.

How do the fabrics feel against your skin?

The fabrics feel soft, supportive and comfortable. The fabric is breathable also which I like when exercising.

What is the benefit of wearing good quality maternity workout gear vs wearing a larger size in a normal style?

The benefit is the support, when pregnant and exercising this makes it actually enjoyable rather than feeling uncomfortable. The fabrics are excellent quality and well made.

My daughter is now 5 months

What fitness related activities or exercises did you do while you were pregnant?

Reformer pilates and swimming

What fitness related activities or exercises did you do after you were pregnant?

Reformer pilates, and I'm planning on going back to swimming

Do the clothes stay in place and were they supportive throughout all of your workouts? Do they suit the activities you do?

Yes, they stay in place during Pilates class (which is important with reformer PIlates as you are on your side, upside down and standing), the bra is very supportive and could definitely be used for running.

How do the fabrics feel against your skin?

Very light, soft and breathable.

What is the benefit of wearing good quality maternity workout gear vs wearing a larger size in a normal style?

It is definitely more flattering and much more comfortable.

Have you been wearing the abi and joseph Active Mum range post pregnancy?

I have mainly worn the tights as they are quite supportive and come up high around the stomach area.
